in my opinion, the best games were from 1997-2000....a lot of statistical depth, the design of the menus and so on was great...since then, they improved the graphics, no doubt....but they reduced the statistical depth, the menu and options in the game....(for example: statistic-summaries: fro each year, or extra for game series, and before)....or I could remember in nhl98, when somebody scored for example his 100th goal in his carreer, you could see the celebration-item "congrats to 100th goal" on the TV-cube above the ice-surface and things like that.....so a lot of cool small fine pieced, which made the game so great....but now?? ok, you have a lot of better graphic-engines, but the game lost a lot of small things, which I am missing....

For me I really enyoed playing NHL 2004.
2005 was too easy,on hard level there were results like 21:1,and Aebischer had 25 shutouts in one season...sick
2006 was better, but goalies were terrible
2007 better then 2006
2008-we will see.If we talking about ps3 version, then we talk about new game, but I think that PC version wont be anything but updated 07 version

I've played only 06 and 07. Both were good, but also had very annoying things. Also goalies were terrible in both.
Still i think 07 is the better game, cause it's a little bit more realistic. Motion capturing, graphics and the engine are better.
Also if anyone wants to play with me - you can see my icq, and my skype is ew_heimdall

@ NHL08:
I have now the OFFICIAL release-date for Austria: game sells in shops on 19th september! I think, in rest of europe, its nearly the same.
(as I said it: in Europe, its 1-2 weeks after US-release)
